Séga Coulibaly joins LA Galaxy - Nancy defender would have been a free agent in the summer
Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy have signed Séga Coulibaly from AS Nancy. The Galaxy confirmed the transfer on Wednesday. The 24-year-old defender, who would have been a free agent in the summer, joins for a small fee of about $100,000 and has signed a two-year contract with a one-year option.
“Séga is a talented, versatile defender with good experience, and we believe he can continue to grow as a player with our club,” LA Galaxy general manager Dennis te Kloese said in a club statement. “We are confident in his ability to contribute to our defense as we add another player who will compete along our backline. We look forward to Séga joining the club and to his contributions with the LA Galaxy.”
Coulibaly becomes the third signing from France for the Galaxy's first team this season. The club has already signed Samuel Grandsir from Monaco and record signing Kévin Cabral from Valenciennes. In addition, the Galaxy also announced the transfer of Rémi Cabral, the twin brother of Kévin, for the Galaxy's second team.
