Sporting director Leonardo has work ahead of him: Paris Saint-Germain not only want to keep their star forwards Kylian Mbappé and Neymar – both of whom have contracts expiring in 2022 – with the club as quickly as possible. This summer, the deals of ten players expire as well, including several loan agreements and youth contracts. However, in Ángel Di María, Juan Bernat and Julian Draxler, there are also three seasoned players among them who have been at the club for some time. Leonardo now confirmed that negotiations with the Spaniard as well as the Argentinian will soon begin and he also wants to talk to Draxler.

“We are talking. We’ve been talking for quite some time,” the Brazilian told radio station France Bleu Paris (quoted via RMC Sport) about the situation of Mbappé on Thursday morning. The most valuable player in the world has always been courted by top clubs like Real Madrid and is said to have not yet decided on his future. “Our position is clear, we know what we want. I think we will get to the moment when there will be a decision. That moment is getting closer and closer and the talks have started well.”

He also said he is in talks with Neymar, about whose impending extension there were reports earlier in the month. “It’s not decided until the contract is signed. That is not yet the case. We will find the right moment, just like with Di María and Bernat. We want to get there as quickly as possible. We want to extend with all four players,” Leonardo continued.

Draxler’s contract expires: PSG sporting director announces talks

With regard to Draxler, Leonardo was not so clear, but talks are said to be underway with the former Bundesliga player: “We will also talk to Draxler. He is an important player for us and we will see what ultimately comes out of the situation.” The 27-year-old, like Di María, is one of the 15 most valuable players with contracts expiring next summer. The ranking in the following year is led quite clearly by his teammates Mbappé and Neymar.

Left-back Bernat is out with a cruciate ligament tear since mid-September and until at least mid-March. Former Manchester United player Di María is currently struggling with thigh problems, but was a top performer under both Thomas Tuchel and successor Mauricio Pochettino. This is not the case for Draxler, who was also absent for weeks at a time. The Germany international usually comes in from the bench and only started twice in the league and cup under the new head coach.
