“I am pleased to welcome Luquinhas to our team,” RBNY head coach Gerhard Struber said in a club statement. “His ability to turn under pressure with his back to goal to create half-spaces and driving into space and drawing defenders in to create chances for himself or teammates will be helpful for our team moving forward.”

The attacking midfielder joins the MLS club after spending the last three years in Poland's Ekstraklasa with Legia from whom he scored 12 goals and 18 assists in 110 games across all competitions. A flexible player, Luquinhas can play both as a number 10 and also on the wing. The transfer fee paid makes him one of the three most expensive signings in New York Red Bulls history (overview).
