The player with the biggest increase was the most valuable player in La Liga: Vinicius Jr. The Brazilian winger saw his market value rise from €120m to €150m and is now the third most valuable player in the world ahead of his future teammate Jude Bellingham

“Vinicius is an impact player, who despite being just 22 has highlighted his qualities by collecting 44 goals and assists across all competitions this season,” Tobias Blaseio, Area Manager for Transfermarkt Spain said. "Vinicius’ performances in the Champions League have been particularly impressive. The Brazilian scored seven goals and five assists in 12 Champions League games—only Erling Haaland has more (13)."

9 Downgrades All new Real Madrid market values at a glance Overview The second and third highest market value upgrades were also among young Madrid players: Eduardo Camavinga saw his market value increase from €60m to €85m, and Rodrygo saw his market value increase by €20m and is now also part of the exclusive €100m club. There are just 11 players with a three-digit market value, and next season, four of them will play for Real Madrid. But despite the significant increase in market value for Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Camavinga, Madrid’s squad value increased by just €10m to €871m. The reason is the downgrades for players who are over 30, like Thibaut Courtois (-€15m to €45m), Benzema (-€10m to €25m), David Alaba (-€10m to €40m) and Antonio Rüdiger (-€8m to €32m).

“Center-backs above 30, like Alaba, Varane, or Van Dijk, all received downgrades, which is no different for Rüdiger,” Blaseio said. “Furthermore, Rüdiger lacked consistency despite receiving plenty of playing time—partly because his teammates struggled with injuries. It will be interesting to see what will happen with Madrid’s backline. Rüdiger is seen as a rotation player and could even be sold this summer.”

La Liga market values: Lewandowski drops - Raphinha on the up

What is unthinkable is that Barcelona could sell Lewandowski, who traded the Bundesliga top goal scorer award, the Torjägerkanone, for the LaLiga top goal scorer award, the Pichichi. But despite being the top goal scorer in LaLiga, the 34-year-old received a market value downgrade because of his age. Dropping from €40m to €30m, the new market value is Lewandowski’s lowest market value in ten years

“You quickly got the sense that Lewandowski would be a good fit at Barcelona,” Blaseio said. “But after a strong start to the season, there was a drop in performances. Dropping out of the Champions League and his poor performances against his former club, Bayern Munich, seemed to have impacted him. Even though there were many nights in which he seemed to disappear, Lewandowski managed to secure the Pichichi.” Despite his downgrade, among players aged 32 or older, Lewandowski is the second most valuable player behind Lionel Messi.

6 downgrades All new Barca market values Overview While Lewandowski sees his market value drop, LaLiga championship winners Barca saw their overall squad value increase by €32m to €799m (to the most valuable squads on the planet). Thanks to upgrades for Frenkie de Jong (+€15m to €75m), Raphinha (+€10m to €60m), Alejandro Balde (+€20m to €50m) and Andreas Christensen (+€10m to €40m).

Market values: Kubo, Jackson and Oroz among the big upgrades

The two La Liga giants, as always, dominate the headlines. But there were also young stars playing elsewhere that saw their market values increase significantly. One of those players is Takefusa Kubo (+€10m to €25m). The Japanese star managed 16 goals and assists in LaLiga this season, which is a big reason for Real Sociedad’s Champions League qualification.

Villarreal, meanwhile, will be playing in the Europa League. But whether their 21-year-old star Nicolas Jackson will still be in the squad after a phenomenal season remains to be seen. “Jackson was on the verge of joining a Premier League club, but an injury prevented the transfer,” Blaseio said. “He recovered quickly and has scored ten LaLiga goals since April. As a result, there has been once again significant interest in the Senegalese forward. Jackson has a clause that allows him to leave for €30m—a fee that makes him interesting for clubs in Spain and abroad. A transfer seems likely, and it is only a question of whether he will remain in Spain or move to England.” Either way, Jackson doubled his market value from €15m to €30m.

Another player that could be part of a big transfer is Osasuna’s talent Aimar Oroz. The 21-year-old enjoyed a strong first season, which was a big reason for Osasuna finishing seventh in La Liga. Oroz’s market value grows from €6m to €15m.

“The U21 European Championships is just around the corner, and there is a sense in Osasuna that Oroz could leave the club,” Blaseio said. “Oroz is one of the players that stood out this season, and the U21 Euros could be another platform to show his talent. Furthermore, his exit clause is relatively low, just €28m, and technically gifted, smart, and flexible, Oroz is the sort of player many ambitious clubs would like to sign.”

Based on percentage, Osasuna made the most significant jump in squad value (+€18m to €146m) or 14%. Getafe, in the meantime, had the biggest drop. The club based in the suburbs of Madrid saw their squad value decline by 15% (-€21m to €116m). The same applies to Getafe’s big neighbor Atlético Madrid (-€22m to €435m).

How Transfermarkt market values work

The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.

The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
