Borussia Mönchengladbach have announced the signing of midfielder Kouadio Koné. The 19-year-old Toulouse talent will not join the Bundesliga club until the summer, however. Until then, the French youth international will be loaned back to the Ligue 2 club.

After the signing was completed, Gladbach’s sporting director Max Eberl said that Koné is a “great talent that various top clubs in Europe have been trying to attract, and we are very pleased that he has chosen Borussia Mönchengladbach and the Bundesliga.” Koné will join Gladbach in preparation for the 2021/22 season, the club stated.

As a transfer fee, a sum of around €9 million was recently reported. With this amount Koné becomes the most expensive teenager in the German club’s history. The top spot was previously held by fomer captain Granit Xhaka (Arsenal), who arrived for €8.5 million from FC Basel as a 19-year-old in 2012.
